I got into this business by accident. A friend asked me to help source some LED masks for his online store. I called around factories, started learning about wavelengths and drivers and silicone molding. One thing led to another and now my desk is covered in half taken apart prototypes. My mom thinks I work in a nightclub because of all the colored lights. At Skifir, we specialize in premium red light therapy devices.

Since then a lot of people have asked me some version of does this stuff actually work. So here is what I have seen, in plain words.
What it does and what it does not do
Red light therapy is exactly what it sounds like. You shine red light on your skin. The light particles hit your cells and they use it to make energy. More energy means your cells do their job better. That is the whole idea. There is no magic frequency or secret code. Just light hitting cells.
It does not fix everything. It will not erase deep wrinkles or cure diseases. What it does well is help with skin texture, inflammation, and recovery. People who use it consistently look healthier. Not younger. Healthier. There is a difference.
I saw this myself with a customer who emailed me after two months. She said she did not think it was working so she compared photos. In the first photo her skin looked kind of gray and tired. In the second one it just looked normal. That was the win. Her skin went from looking bad to looking average. That does not sound impressive but if you are the person living with bad skin it is a big deal.
What I keep seeing work for people
Acne is the quickest win. Red light calms the angry redness. Blue light kills the bacteria if your mask has it. I have a friend who owns a little facial studio. She bought a few masks from us for her treatment room. She told me clients with breakouts heal about twice as fast now. That is a real measurable difference.
Muscle soreness is next. We sell panels to some small gyms. The trainers told me people who sit in front of them after lifting complain less the next morning. Not zero soreness. But less. Enough that people notice and keep using them.
I personally use one for my shoulders. I sit at a computer designing these things all day. My neck and shoulders get tight and cranky. After a week of hitting them with near infrared for 10 minutes a day they feel looser. Not fixed. Just less annoying.
Hair is the slowest. I tell people if you want to see your hairline come back in a month do not buy this. It takes months. The follicles wake up slowly. But I have seen photos from a guy who used our cap for 6 months and his crown filled in noticeably. He was happy. He also had to wait 6 months.
Not all devices actually produce useful light. I have taken apart maybe fifty different masks over the last few years. Some of them have thirty dollar worth of parts and sell for two hundred. The LEDs light up but the wavelength is wrong or the power is too low to do anything. The box looks nice and the listing has good reviews but the light coming out of it is useless.
So if you buy one, look at the numbers. 630 to 660 nanometers for red. 810 to 850 for near infrared. Check if they publish their power output. If a manufacturer hides those specs it is usually because the specs are bad.
That is about it. I tried to keep this short. Light hits cells. Cells make energy. You get better results if you stick with it. Buy something with proper specs. Do not expect miracles. That covers everything I have learned so far.
